Background

Chinese President Xi Jinping has stressed many times about the importance of people-to-people relationships. “Amity between the people holds the key to state-to-state relations”, and it starts with friendship between youths. The youth shoulder the responsibility to promote future development and is the sustainable engine that drives global governance. In his address to youths in 2014, President Xi noted that “Asia’s future belongs to its youths. A nation will prosper only when its young people thrive. Young people are full of dreams and vitality, and it’s easier to communicate and understand each other. I hope Asian yo`uths can learn from each other, enhance friendship, and proactively participate in the revitalization of Asia”.
Asia has always been a significant component of human civilization in size and in contribution, along with its rich, longstanding history and hard-working mentality. The Asian continent accounts for two-thirds of the world’s population, and is home to almost 4.2 billion people from more than 40 countries. A united, developed and prosperous Asia is paramount to the development of mankind and to a brighter future.
The youth of today are our future. The community of common destiny for mankind calls for our younger generation to shoulder additional responsibilities more than ever. “The future belongs to the youth” is not just an expression of the inevitable; rather, it embodies the idiosyncrasies of hard-working mentality, adventurous spirit, and creative mindset of youth, all of which shape the development and growth of humanity.
Asia Youth Leaders Forum aims to create an open platform for youths to communicate and cooperate in various sectors, including technological innovation, arts & culture, and social welfare. To promote cultural exchange and enhance common development among the youth community of Asian countries has great significance to the peace of the world and to the better future of mankind.
