On 27 November, Nadia Abdulrahman Al-Mudahka, Member of Qatar’s Royal Family, well-known artist and Director of Researches and Studies Department of Katara Cultural Village, delivered a keynote speech at the Asia Youth Leaders Forum 2021.
The full speech is as below.
I am Dr. Nadia Abdulrahman Al-Mudahka, a visual artist holding a PhD in Art Philosophy, and I am currently working as a Director of Researches and Studies Department of Katara Cultural Village.
Horse is a symbol of our Islamic civilization and is unique to us in the Arabian Peninsula. It symbolizes loyalty and power, so I have done a lot of art on horse, including an art exhibition at the Forbidden City in Beijing.
As a visual artist, I have experienced the great development that my country Qatar has witnessed in various fields, and I have tried to focus on featuring beautiful aspects of our history and contemporary present, aspects that always make us feel proud and distinguished.
Culture and art is a universal language that the world needs today, so, as part of the Asian visual movement, we are called upon to speak in that umbrella language to develop our nations and promote our common denominators.
Like the rest of the world, The Asian continent needs the efforts of its young people. They are called upon to take advantage of the opportunities they have in education and training to develop their country and contribute to the achievement of development projects that benefit their people. Youth power is the strongest supporter of Asia's development. The pace of youth development is the pace of development in Asia. The unique artistic expressions of young artists can enrich the form of innovation and artistic development. It is easier for young people to make friends that may later become a link and bridge to Asian countries. This is the power of youth and the power of art.
There is a remarkable development in various fields in Asia. There are huge projects that will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening cooperation and ties between Asian peoples. Of course, art will be at the heart of these fields and plays an important role in the growth and development of the continent.
I have had the opportunity to visit China three times before, where I have organized art exhibitions and participated in forums there. I consider the promotion of bilateral cooperation between Qatar and China to be the duty of all artists from both States. There is a great deal of opportunities to promote such cooperation.
China is a great nation, a splendid civilization, an imposed world power, and witnessed an economic development in which it undoubtedly contributes to good relations with the various countries of the world, especially the Asian States. We hope that China will contribute to the promotion of joint Asian action.
Asia Youth Leaders Forum may come across unpredictable challenges ahead, but I am confident that you can overcome those challenges and work for the renaissance of the continent's nations and the well-being of its people.
Thank you AYLF for giving me this opportunity. We congratulate you for holding the forum, and we wish you good luck and success!
