11月27日上午，在2021亚洲青年领袖论坛开幕式上，联合国前秘书长潘基文（Ban Ki- Moon）发表视频讲话。

大家好。

今天虽然是以视频的形式与大家见面，但是很高兴能见到各位代表亚洲的青年领袖们，同时祝贺本次2021亚洲青年领袖论坛的举办。

感谢中国公共外交协会会长吴海龙邀请我参与本次极具意义的会议。本次论坛的主题是“致力开放创新，聚合青年力量，共建亚洲新未来”。为此，要促进中国和亚洲的青年们开展交流和合作。基于现在亚洲和世界所面临的全球性挑战，本次会议的主题极为鲜明。

亲爱的领袖们，亚洲和全世界现在面临着贫穷、教育和安全等诸多方面的问题。为了克服这些问题，联合国在2015年制定了17个可持续发展目标，由所有联合国成员全员通过达成了协议，习近平主席也亲自参与到了会议中。会议达成共识，预计在2030年达成这17个目标。为此，需要亚洲青年领袖们积极参与其中，强化相互交流与合作。2015年以后，为了达成这些可持续发展的目标，中国政府起到了很大的作用并作出了巨大贡献。借此机会，我对中国政府表示感谢。

人类不仅面临着这些可持续发展的问题，同时还要直接面对很多需要克服的严重的全球性问题，包括气候变化危机，我和各位一起经历着这些问题。气候危机这一严峻挑战威胁到人类生存和我们所居住的地球本身。气候危机让我们不得不勇敢地改变我们过去认为理所当然的常识，最重要的是要果断放弃使用化学燃料。11月11日至13日，在英国格拉斯哥举行了《联合国气候变化框架公约》第二十六次缔约方大会。虽然结果让人失望，但是中国和美国决定为了应对气候危机进行紧密合作，这具有重要的意义。今天论坛要讨论的主题是技术、投资和金融转型，这正是克服气候危机必须谈论的主题。

亲爱的青年领袖们，由于19 世纪中叶开始的工业革命和科学技术的发展，人类取得了快速的经济增长。在此过程中，我们一直把自然当作是无限制使用的对象，但是自然资源是会枯竭的。人类社会应该尊重自然法则，人类和自然需要共存，这也是亚洲的基本策略。在亚洲，人类和自然是不可分离的。长期以来，我们都认为，人类与自然浑然一体，一起共存且共同繁荣。现在，我们必须努力使这些亚洲价值观和亚洲方式成为创造新文明的基础。

另外，我们的青年领袖们应建设完善全球公民中心。人们互相了解不同的文化、种族以及经济之间的差异，互相关心，彼此共存。通过这种方式，亚洲青年领袖们可以相互交流和合作，共同克服我们所面对的这些问题。

希望在今天的论坛中，各位能积极讨论这些问题并取得巨大成功。再次感谢举办本次会议的中国公共外交协会、中国和平发展基金会、广州市人民政府以及亚洲青年领袖联合会。期待本次论坛取得巨大成功。谢谢。

On 27 November, Ban Ki-moon, former secretary-general of the United Nations, delivered a video address at the Opening Ceremony of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum 2021.

Hello, everyone.

Although I'm meeting you today through this video, I'm very glad to see all the young leaders representing Asia. And meanwhile, congratulations on holding the 2021 Asia Youth Leaders Forum.
I would like to thank President Wu Hailong of the China Public Diplomacy Association for inviting me to participate in this meaningful forum. The theme of this forum is "Open and Innovate—Cultivating Asia’s Future through the Strength of Our Youth". For this, we should promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Asian youths. I think this is a very novel theme in light of the global challenges that Asia and the world are facing today.

Dear leaders, 
Asia and the world are now facing many problems such as poverty, education, and security. In order to overcome these problems, the UN set 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and all UN member states unanimously reached an agreement on that. President Xi Jinping also personally participated in the conference. According to the resolution, these 17 goals are expected to be achieved by 2030. In order to achieve these goals, we need active participation and contribution of young Asian leaders, as well as their mutual exchanges and cooperation. After 2015, in order to achieve these Sustainable Development Goals, the Chinese government has played a great role and made many contributions. So, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Chinese government.

Humanity now faces the challenge of overcoming a serious global crisis in addition to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which is the climate change crisis. I have experienced these problems with all of you. The climate change crisis is a serious challenge that threatens human survival and the planet on which we live. In order to tackle the climate change crisis, we are calling for a bold change in the common sense that we have taken for granted. The most important thing is to decisively abandon the use of fossil fuels. The COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow, UK from November 11th to 13th ended up disappointing. However, China and the United States decided to cooperate closely to cope with the climate change crisis. This is of great significance. The topics to be discussed in today's forum are technology, investment and financial transformation, which are topics necessary to be discussed for overcoming the climate change crisis.

Dear young leaders, 
The Industrial Revolution and the development of science and technology that began in the middle of the 19th century brought about rapid economic growth of humanity. In this process, we have always regarded nature as an object that can be used without limit, but natural resources can be depleted. Human society should respect the laws of nature, and human beings and nature need to coexist. This is also the basic strategy of Asia. In Asia, humans and nature are inseparable. We have long believed that humans and nature should coexist in harmony and prosper together. Now, we must strive to make these Asian values and Asian ways the basis for creating a new civilization.

In addition, young leaders should improve the global citizenship center, where people can understand the differences between different cultures, races, and economies; care for; and coexist with each other. In this way, Asian leaders can communicate and cooperate with each other to overcome these problems we are facing together. I hope everyone in today's forum can actively discuss these issues and achieve great success. Thanks again to China Public Diplomacy Association, China Foundation for Peace and Development, People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, and Asia Youth Leaders Association for holding this forum. I look forward to the great success of this forum. Thank you.
