尊敬的各位来宾、女士们、先生们：
大家下午好！我非常荣幸能参加这一久负盛名的论坛，和大家齐聚一堂。亚洲青年领袖论坛旨在促进青年合作，鼓励杰出青年之间建立深厚友谊并传承引领广袤多样的亚洲大陆进入更光明的未来。阿联酋在这些领域取得了长足的进步，我很高兴你们选择阿联酋作为今年的主宾国，这是对我国贡献的肯定，衷心感谢你们的认可。
我特别要衷心感谢我的老朋友——吴海龙会长以及中国公共外交协会、中国和平发展基金会、广州市人民政府、亚洲青年领袖联合会的所有朋友和伙伴们。感谢你们共同努力，克服了此前的挑战，让我们在今天能够在此相聚。
去年，由于新冠肺炎疫情，我们无法在南沙相聚。而在与新冠肺炎病毒进行了长达三年的斗争之后，我们终于看到了新的曙光、迎来了新的时代。在这样一个新的时代，聪明有为的年轻一代将发挥决定性、显著且积极的作用。再次衷心感谢各位为今年亚洲青年领袖论坛的举办所付出的努力，我也要深深地感谢我们的青年，也就是未来的领袖，为我们共同的未来所持续作出的积极贡献。
我想借此机会详细给大家介绍一下阿联酋和中国青年领袖之间的一些交流活动，这些活动已经取得巨大成功。作为阿联酋驻华大使，我见证了两国之间伙伴关系的发展及其给两国人民带来的好处。我们在赞赏两国在广泛的合作中所结成的深厚互惠关系的同时，也应该特别肯定青年正在作出的贡献。
阿联酋为培养和引导青年作出了巨大的努力。年轻一代是我们的重大财富，也是国家未来的基础。通过联邦青年局及其负责的《国家青年议程》，我们建立了青年理事会、青年中心，启动了面向青年的项目和计划。我们也在年轻人和政府之间架起桥梁，培养他们的领导力，通过他们的视野去更好制定各个领域的政策，包括数字化、气候变化、粮食安全等。阿联酋正在培养青年让他们能更好地服务国家，并且成为更好、更有参与度、更负责任的全球公民。
上述这些努力使我国在全球青年中赢得了良好的声誉。阿联酋被视为安全、繁荣、充满活力的国家，拥有广泛的就业机会和丰富的文化，吸引着来自整个阿拉伯地区甚至全球的年轻人。阿联酋已经成为青年人才的聚集之地，比以往任何时候都更具活力、更加进取。
与此同时，中国巨大而持续的发展，在很大程度上也得益于中国强大的教育领域及其培养的青年人才。一个国家能拥有这样一个庞大、充满活力、创新、多样的青年群体，的确很不可思议。
阿联酋和中国之间的全面战略伙伴关系的一个主要支柱就是促进两国各个领域优秀人才之间的交流。两国持续努力开拓新的交流渠道去联结双方青年领袖。通过鼓励这种合作，我们希望能够进一步提升阿中两国的紧密友谊，以及促进整个亚洲的持久繁荣。
女士们、先生们，本届论坛的主题是“增强青年合作，凝聚共同价值，促进亚洲和平与发展”。秉承着这永恒而宝贵的目标，我愿重申增进年轻一代共同理解的重要性。我也期盼，通过双方在论坛期间以及今后的努力，让友谊、相互欣赏、相互尊重能在阿联酋和中国的青年之间流淌。谢谢！
Ali Al Dhaheri wishes to see friendship, appreciation, and mutual respect flourish between Emirati and Chinese youth
On 26 March, Ali Al Dhaheri, ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, delivered a keynote speech at the China and UAE Dialogue between the Youth Leaders of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum. Following is the full text of the speech.
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good afternoon to you all. It is indeed a great pleasure to be here with you today at this indeed illustrious forum. The Asia Youth Leaders Forum is all about promoting cooperation and encouraging long-lasting bonds of friendship between the outstanding young people who will one day inherit the mental of leading our vast and diverse continent into a very and ever brighter future. The UAE has made a great stride in these areas, and I’m delighted that you have acknowledged our country’s contributions by selecting the UAE as this year’s Country of Honor. We thank you sincerely for this recognition.
In particular, I would like to extend my deep thanks and appreciation to my old friend, President Wu Hailong, and all our friends and partners at the China Public Diplomacy Association, the China Foundation for Peace and Development, The People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, and the Asia Youth Leaders Association for all your joint efforts in bringing us together today, in spite of previous challenges.
Last year, the COVID pandemic got in our way and prevented us from gathering here. After a three-year-long battle against the virus, we can finally welcome a new dawn and usher in a new era, an era which is our bright and promising young generation will undoubtedly play a decisive, remarkable, positive role. Once again, thank-you to everyone for all your work in convening this year’s Asia Youth Leaders Forum, and I deeply appreciate all the profound contributions that the young leaders of tomorrow are continuing to make towards our shared future.
Let me take this opportunity to elaborate on some of the youth leadership exchanges between the UAE and China, which have already enjoyed great success. As the privileged UAE’s Ambassador to China, I have witnessed the development of partnerships between the two countries and the merits that these have brought to our peoples. While we honor the deep reciprocity that our two countries have shared through their extensive cooperation, we should remark specifically on the emerging contributions made by the younger generation.
The UAE has contributed substantial efforts to fostering and guiding the young generation, our greatest asset and the foundation of our country’s future. Through the Federal Youth Authority and the National Youth Agenda it oversees, the UAE has launched youth councils, youth centers, and youth-oriented initiatives and programs. We connect young people to government to nurture leadership skills, and harness youth insights to better develop policies across all sectors and sorts of fields, such as digitalization, climate change, and food security. The UAE is training its youth to better serve the nation and to become better, more engaged, and more responsible global citizens.
These efforts have earned our country a favorable reputation among young people internationally; the UAE is seen as a safe, prosperous, and vibrant nation, with a broad range of employment opportunities and rich cultural landscape, attracting young people from the entire Arab region, and even much further afield. The UAE has become a hub of young talents and is more energetic and enterprising than ever.
Meanwhile, China’s dramatic and ongoing development also relies heavily on the country’s strong education sector and the young talents that it nurtures. It is indeed impressive for a nation to be blessed with such a large and dynamic young population, marked by innovation and diversity.
One of the main pillars of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is the cultivation of interpersonal exchanges between talented people across the board. Both our countries constantly work to open new avenues of communication, connecting young leaders from both sides. By encouraging this sort of cooperation, we wish to promote stronger ties of friendship between our two countries, as well as enduring prosperity across Asia more broadly.
Ladies and gentlemen, I recall that the theme of today’s forum is: “Enhance Youth Cooperation, Strengthen Common Values, and Promote the Peace and Development of Asia”. Staying true to these timeless and invaluable goals, I would like to emphasize the importance of fostering the bonds of common understanding among the younger generation. I wish to see friendship, appreciation, and mutual respect flourish between the young people of the UAE and China both through the efforts we make here today and for many years to come.
